RAC (Radio Corporation of America, RCA) The RCA connector was invented. RCA is commonly known as lotus socket, also known as RAC terminal, also known as RAC interface, almost all TV, DVD player products have this interface. It is not specifically designed for any one interface. It can be used for both audio and ordinary video signals. It is also a DVD component (YCrCb) socket, but the number is three. RCA is usually a pair of white audio ports and yellow video ports. It is usually connected using the RCA (commonly known as lotus head), which requires only connecting the standard RAC cable with lotus head to the corresponding port.
The signal transmission
RCA terminal adopts coaxial signal transmission mode, the central axis is used for signal transmission, and the outer contact layer is used for grounding. It can be applied in the occasions including analog video, analog audio, digital audio and chromatic component transmission. RCA audio terminals are usually colored in pairs: red for the right channel and black or white for the left channel. In some cases, middle and surround cable connections are color-coded to facilitate wiring, but all RCA connectors throughout the system have the same electrical performance. Generally speaking, RCA stereo audio lines are left and right channels for a group, each channel appearance is a line.
The interface style
Usually paired audio ports right channel (red) left channel (white) and video port (yellow)
Plug style advantages
The RAC interface enables the separation of audio and video transmission, which avoids image quality degradation due to audio/video hybrid interference. The most widely used interface on audio and video devices, almost every audio and video device provides this interface for audio and video input and output.
Disadvantages
Due to RAC interface transmission is still a luminance/chrominance (Y/C) composite video signal, still need to display equipment for light/color separation and chroma decoding to imaging, this first mix again separation process will inevitably cause the loss of color signal, chroma and luminance signal also has a lot of chance to interfere with each other to affect the quality of the final output image. RAC still has some life, but it can’t be used in situations where visual limits are desired due to its insurmountable Y/C mix.
